MGTO brings Macau Week to Guangdong

     Guangdong Macau Week will be held from April 12 to 15 in the Guangdong cities of Guangzhou and Jiangmen. Macau SAR Chief Executive Chui Sai On will lead a delegation of government officials, tourism industry representatives, including members of the Tourism Development Council and Macau Grand Prix Committee, media and trade to take part in the event. Planned are a cultural performance for the opening ceremony, tourism seminars, travel marts, exhibitions showcasing Macau World Heritage with miniatures of the Ruins of St Paul’s, A-Ma Temple and Guia Lighthouse, the Macau Grand Prix, a booth highlighting the Macau Tourism and Cultural Activities Center, tourism products and Macau cuisine and information on Macau’s large-scale enterprises. Macau steps up training for tourism professionals

     Macau’s unprecedented development in recent years has increased demand for international standards that would play a part in positioning it as a world center of tourism and leisure, and as a result, even more importance has been placed on education and training for the tourism industry.      The SAR Government attaches great importance to service quality in the tourism industry and MGTO has been maintaining close communication with the trade and industry to improve the quality of service in tourism by encouraging and supporting education and training in related fields to both upgrade service and increase the number of well qualified candidates entering the work force. It is indeed encouraging to note that here in Macau institutions of higher learning are offering a wide variety of training programs and courses that provide opportunities not just to equip students with the resources they need to enter the field, but also to give professionals currently engaged in tourism ways to increase their skills and advance in their careers.
